Tool summaryName of the tool SPeAR®: Sustainable Project Appraisal Routine (ARUP) Description of the tool Produced and implemented by ARUP (an international built environment consultancy) the tool is a methodology framework to assess the sustainability of projects, products or organistation. Visually constructed as a sustainability web, the methodology contains a set of core sectors and indicators for sustainability including social, economic, natural resource and environmental issues, and will include additional indicators relevant to each individual application.
The design of SPeAR® is intended to provide information to aid management with decision making. The methodology of SPeAR® can assist in setting sustainability objectives, tracking the sustainability of a project through its life cycle and assessing alternatives where a decision is to be supported.
