Tool summaryName of the tool Green Plot Ratio Description of the tool The Green Plot Ratio is a planning instrument for ecological sustainability in cities.
The GPR is based on a common biological parameter called the leaf area index (LAI), which is defined as the single-side leaf area per unit ground area. The GPR is the average leaf area index of the greenery on site and is presented as a ratio that is similar to the building plot ratio (BPR) currently in use in many cities to control maximum allowable built-up floor area in a building development. GPR can also be defined as the ratio of the total single-side leaf area of the planted landscape to the plot or site area.
(Building Plot Ratio is the ratio of gross liveable (or rentable) area and the site area). Specific topic A planning instrument for ecological sustainability in cities Sector/s of use
