Description of the tool
Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is described by the Interorganisational Committee on Guidelines and Principles for SIA as “all social and cultural consequences to human populations of any public or private actions that alter the ways in which people live, work, play, related to one another, organize to meet their needs, and generally cope as members of society”.

The goal of SIA is to help individuals and communities, as well as government and private sector organisations, understand and better anticipate the possible social consequences for human populations and communities of planned and planned social change resulting from proposed policies, plans, programmes and projects.
