Brief description of the framework and tools within it
The IWRM-TOOLBOX is a comprehensive source of knowledge, experience and guidance for sustainable water resources development and management including service provision. The IWRM -TOOLBOX aims to help decision makers and practitioners to put together policy packages for sustainable water resources management. The IWRM - TOOLBOX draws together experience and shares knowledge in implementing Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM), worldwide.

The IWRM -TOOLBOX contains a list of tools (54). Each tool includes a general description, divided into "Characteristics" and "Lessons learned", with links to other tools in the GWP-toolbox. For each tool there are listed related topics:
• References (app. 10 per tool)
• Cases (app. 10 per tool, in all 108 different (overlaps between cases))
• Themes (the same 9 per tool)
• Organisations (20-30 per tool)
• Web-sites (4-5 per tool)

How are the tools organised within the framework?
The tools are organised hierarchical, in 3 levels, each with a number of sub-themes. Under each sub-theme 2-4 tools is presented.

The three levels are:
A. Those which create the ´enabling environment´, the laws, investments and policies
B. The building of appropriate institutions, and building capacity within these institutions
C. Management tools
