Brief description of the framework and tools within it
The main objectives of CRISP is to:
• define a framework and general methodology for construction and city related sustainability indicators,
• gather and organise indicators within a database including information on validation, testing and criteria of use
• and widely disseminate the results.

2 main levels of tools are considered:
Indicators. Definition: a parameter or a variable derived from a parameters, which points to, provide information about, and describes the state of a phenomenon/environment/area. Over 500 indicators referenced
Systems. Definition: a structured list of indicators. Over 40 systems referenced.

The Indicator Data Sheet is used to document each indicator or index and to present it to users and sheets also provide terminology details. The information on the corresponding system or set is provided in another form: the System Data Sheet. The two data sheets are linked together.

Specific topic focussed on by framework
CRISP focuses on Construction and City related Sustainability Indicators

How are the tools organised within the framework?
The full list of systems and indicators can be consulted, but 2 ways of searching the database (simple or advanced) are also suggested for both systems and indicators:
"Simple" mode
3 fields can be filled:
1) "'keywords",
2) "construction categories" (to be chosen from: urban, infrastructure, building, building products and process)
3) "sustainable development issues" (environmental, economic and social) if the search is through indicators; "developer country" if the search is through systems of indicators.

"Advanced": different fields from the data sheet are to be completed

What language/s is the framework available in?
The web site is exclusively in English

What organisation developed the framework and in what country?
CRISP was a 5th Framework Program research project funded by the E.U.(EVK4-CT-1999-20002). The thematic network coordinator was Dr. Luc Bourdeau (CSTB France). The thematic network partners are the CSTB (FR) and VTT(FIN). The network counts at least 22 members from different European countries http://crisp.cstb.fr/presentation.htm

Where is the framework available from?
http://crisp.cstb.fr/

What are the strengths of the framework?
• The database structure is rather simple but very clear
• The purpose and outcomes are easy to identify.
